About The Committee
The Association of Flight Attendants Employee Assistance Program (AFA /EAP) believes that no one ever needs to be alone in finding solutions to their problems. We are a confidential resource available to Members, their families and their partners to assist with personal, as well as work-related concerns. AFA's EAP/Professional Standards Committee provides three distinct but interrelated services including:

-
Assessment, support and resource referral: (for example, we provide resources and references for a variety of life situations including: relationships, financial/legal, workplace trauma or other work-related issues, insurance questions, harassment, job stress, occupational injury, etc.), in addition to offering support with chemical dependency and emotional issues.
-
Advancement of professional standards through conflict resolutions: (We offer a range of conflict resolution strategies, skills, and support to help co-workers resolve disputes among themselves without the need of management intervention).
-
Response to critical and/or traumatic incidents: (We offer and/or coordinate a range of critical incident stress management services to promote and accelerate recovery)
What We Do:
What We Do For You!

Our Main Goal:
We've Got Stuff Going On!
Right now, the number one goal is recruitment. Currently there are 6 committee members (1 CVG/ 1 MSP/ 4 ATL). We would love to have reps from DTW and JFK/LGA. The next onboarding training will be held in October and we can hopefully get interest and representation from those bases.
Looking Ahead:
We're Working On Stuff!
The next project for the EAP/Professional Standards Committee involves becoming DIGITAL. Currently, we document our work using paper forms. I am currently working on having all committee members trained in the NEW electronic data sheet submission process. This will not only help make documentation simpler but it will hopefully help our committee more accurately capture our utilization numbers/data.
Call To Action!
Hey Atlanta, We Need Your Help, NOW!
Download the The Flight Attendant Wellness App It's a tool for all active flight attendants to use to address occupational issues, including insomnia, post-incident trauma, and work related stress. The interactive tools include mindfulness activities, information on coping with trauma and stress, relaxation exercises, screeners for sleep issues and substance use, sleep quality tips, and a blood alcohol calculator!
AFA-CWA Disaster Relief Fund is available to all of our Flight Attendants.
We are aware of members whose lives and households have been affected by the wildfires in California. The AFA Disaster Relief Fund is actively monitoring messages for applications. Any AFA member and RAFA member in good standing who is involuntarily displaced from their primary residence for seven or more days because of a natural disaster is eligible for a one-time per calendar year gift of $500. If a member would like to apply for AFA Disaster Relief Funds, they can go to www.afacwa.org/drf and download the Disaster Relief Fund Application. Submission instructions are included on the site.
Additionally, members can apply for FEMA financial relief at https://www.disasterassistance.gov/ or 800-621-3362.
FEMA disaster assistance may help with a range of needs including:
Serious Needs Assistance. Money to help one pay for essential items such as food, water, baby formula, breastfeeding supplies, medication and other emergency supplies.
Displacement Assistance. Money to help with housing needs. If one cannot return to their home because of the disaster, this money can be used to stay in a hotel, with family and friends, or other options while one looks for a rental unit.
Other eligible expenses. This includes expenses from things like rental assistance, basic home repairs and property losses.
